Fall Color in Asheville, North Carolina

Fall Color in Asheville, North Carolina

biltmoreWe’ve had a very slow fall color season in Asheville as the weather has remained warmer delaying the leaf change. There are still a few weeks left for great color in the Western North Carolina Region.  Leaves change from the top of the mountain and then move their way to the lower regions of mountains.   This makes it a great time to visit Asheville and the surrounding area.

Some tips we can offer you while planning your trip.

Fall on Elk Mountain Scenic Highway is absolutely gorgeous.  Do not miss it!  To access Elk Mountain Scenic Highway take Merrimon Avenue away from downtown Asheville towards Weaverville.  You should make sure to stop by Edna’s coffee shop on the way.  It will be on your left hand side just before you get to the Ingles Grocery Store.  Edna’s serves great coffee and wonderful baked goods in a cute atmosphere with fun people.   After leaving Edna’s, make a left on Merrimon to make an immediate right on Beaverdam Road.  Take Beaverdam Road about 1 mile in and take a left on Elk Mountain Scenic Highway.  Let the road take you where it leads now.  You are bound to see great fall color and amazing homes.  You will eventually drive through Ciel and continue until you get to the end of Elk Mountain Scenic Highway.fall-pics-1  At the end of the road you can immediately access the Blue Ridge Parkway going left to Craggy Gardens or going right which will lead you toward West Asheville and beyond.

Another great way to  experience the fall color in our area is to visit Mt. Pisgah,  The Pisgah National Forest, as well as,  Chimney Rock State Park.  Check times and other event schedules for these great natural attractions by clicking on the links!  Pisgah National Forest will offer you the best at the lower elevations due to the fact that the road leads you through the forest and passes many great things to see along the route all the while covered by countess trees with beautiful color!

We also highly recommend Biltmore and Biltmore Gardens.  Take long walks on their nature trails or go horseback riding on a trail ride.  Biltmore is filled with great activities for all!  Currently the house and parts of the estate are already decorated for Christmas and therefore, makes it even more intriguing to most people!

horseback-ridingNo matter what you choose to do on your journey to Asheville and the Western North Carolina Region,  We are sure you will be happy and satisfied with your visit.  Some of the best air and nature can be found in our region.
