Knoxville settled in 1786 as the first capital of Tennessee. It’s current metro area population is estimated at 1,096,961. The downtown area has now seen a complete revitalization and is filled with shops, restaurants, theaters, and cafes.
Driving from Asheville to Knoxville is quite a scenic drive and there are plenty of places to stop along the way. Make sure to check your route on Google Maps before going and mark some nature spots and other types of attractions to stop on your short journey there.
